Girls in classroom

Who We Are

Bloom Literacy Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming lives through education. We strive to bring attention to and help underprivileged girls and women gain literacy in Nepal.

Founded on the belief that every girl deserves access to quality education, we work tirelessly to bridge the educational gap that affects more than half of Nepal's female population.

Why Nepal?

Nepal faces significant challenges in achieving educational equality for girls. According to research from Global Press Journal and The Borgen Project:

  • More than half of women in Nepal are illiterate
  • Only 49% of women are literate, compared to 69% of men
  • This 20% gap represents thousands of girls denied educational opportunities
  • Rural areas face even greater disparities in access to schools and resources
  • Cultural barriers and economic hardship prevent many families from prioritizing girls' education

By focusing our efforts on Nepal, we can make a measurable impact in a region where the need is critical and our partner organizations have proven track records.
